Privacy
Short version: this is a personal website. I run privacy-first, cookieless analytics that count visits without cookies and without identifying you, I don’t run ads, and I never sell your data. The only personal information I hold is an email address — and only if you choose to give me one by subscribing.
If you’ve any questions, email me at asim@asim.dev.

What I collect
Your email — only if you subscribe. The Signal subscribe form is the one place this site asks for personal information. If you enter your email and subscribe, I store that address for the sole purpose of sending you the newsletter you asked for. The “depth” you tune to (Craft, Machine, Veil) just sets what you receive — it isn’t extra data about you.
Anonymous usage analytics. I measure how the site is used — which pages get visited, where visits come from (the referring link), rough device and browser type, and approximate location (country/region). This is cookieless and never tied to who you are: nothing is stored on your device, and there’s no identifier that follows you around. See Analytics below for exactly how.
Nothing else. No name, no account — nothing beyond the email you volunteer and the anonymous analytics above.
What I don’t do
- No cookies. Nothing is stored on your device — no cookies, no local storage. That’s why you’ll never see a cookie banner here.
- No cross-site tracking or profiling. The analytics can’t identify you and don’t follow you across the web; I never build a picture of who you are.
- No ads. No advertising, no ad pixels.
- No selling or sharing. Your email is never sold, rented, or handed to anyone for marketing.
Analytics
I use PostHog to understand what’s working — purely in aggregate. It runs in cookieless mode, which means:
- No cookies, no local storage. Nothing is written to your browser, so no consent banner is needed.
- No identifying you. PostHog counts visitors using a privacy-preserving hash calculated on its servers (it rotates daily) — never a persistent ID stored on your device.
- EU-hosted. Analytics data is processed and stored in the EU (Frankfurt).
- Your IP isn’t stored. It’s used only momentarily to work out approximate location, then discarded.
If you’d rather send nothing at all, any standard tracker/ad blocker will stop PostHog loading — the site works exactly the same.
Server logs
Like any website, the server that hosts this site may keep standard request logs — things like your IP address, browser type, and which pages were requested. These are a normal part of running a website and keeping it secure; I don’t use them to identify or profile you.
The newsletter
When the newsletter is live, sending it relies on a third-party email-delivery service, which processes your email address purely to deliver the messages you’ve subscribed to. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe whenever you like — use the link in any newsletter, or just email me.
- See, correct, or delete the email address I hold for you — email me and I’ll sort it.
You don’t need an account to read anything here, so there’s nothing to delete unless you’ve subscribed.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above. Material changes to how the newsletter handles your data will be flagged in the newsletter itself.
